After a lot of thought and then a quick decision, I have decided to try HypnoBabies for this birth!
What is HypnoBabies, you ask? Click here to find out!
Does this mean I'll start my labor by watching someone swing a gold medallion in front of my face and then drop into a subconscious, sleep-like state until the baby is placed in my arms? Um, no.
Basically it works by reprogramming your mind, removing negative influences, and focusing on getting through the "pressure waves" comfortably.
I don't know if it will entirely eliminate any need for an epidural. But I figure it'll help me deal. I plan to labor at home as long as possible.
I'll admit that my major motivation in all of this is to save money. Spending $80.00 on the HypnoBabies Home Study Course (used, on eBay) is a heck of a lot cheaper than an epidural. And I can sell it afterward, whether or not it "works."
There are 2 free tracks you can download at enjoybirth.com , an introduction to HypnoBabies and then a free relaxation track (30 minutes) called "Relax Me" and it put me to sleep last night.
I purchased the course today and the eBay seller assures me it was shipped this afternoon. I sure hope so, since I'm getting a ridiculously late start. I'm looking forward to starting it! I need to stop panicking about labor and just get to work!

Krista, I labored for 16 hours and pushed for 2 1/2 with only a 1/2 mg of staydol. If only my pelvis had been big enough I would've had Adriana out in no time! Alas, we had to go to ER c-section and thus the epidural. BUT it was SOO much easier to labor STANDING UP and walking around or sitting on a birthing ball than lying down. My labor pains were the worst when I was lying in that stupid hospital bed! Another tip is counter pressure on your lower back helps tremendously too. Good luck with the HypnoBaby thing though too :-) Looking forward to new pics of Spencer on THIS side of the womb!
