We went back for our 2 week checkup for Miles's ears. Thankfully they are all clear now, no infection remaining! Hooray!
She did still see some fluid in there, but she said that is common for ears healing from an infection. She recommended that he take Zyrtec once a day for about a month to clear out the fluid.
He also got his 15 month shots (almost exactly one month late) and did great! He cried for about 10-15 seconds and then was fine. I hate how I have to hold his arms down. We came back home and after he played for about 30 minutes, he fell asleep and took a 2.5 hour nap! About an hour in, I realized it was crazy for me to not be napping as well, since I was so tired, so I fell asleep, not knowing if I would get to sleep for 30 seconds or 30 minutes. I was so glad when he didn't wake up until 1:30pm!
I was happy to realize yesterday that I think his nystagmus is a lot better right now. I read somewhere about a connection to inner ear issues and nystagmus, so I'm wondering if he just really shows his nystagmus when he has an ear infection. Maybe that's crazy, but it's worth mentioning to the doctor, I guess.
Now I'm starting to wonder if we should try to reschedule his MRI for a 2nd time. We will probably (hopefully) be changing insurance companies after I deliver Spencer to something that will be less expensive. Since our current insurance won't be paying for anything with the delivery, it won't go toward our 2010 deductible, but the MRI will. I'd rather not pay toward 2 deductibles next week if it's possible. I'm not sure if that makes sense though...Hmmm...
Except for my 28 week appointment with my midwife, we have no more doctors' appointments scheduled for 2009!
