Now a double!

I took Miles to the doctor yesterday.  He was scheduled to have the doctor recheck his ear(s) and make sure the ear infection was gone and then get his 15 month shots, which he didn't have 2 weeks ago because he was sick.

I should have known it wouldn't be a great appointment when we were awakened at 2:00am by a crying Miles.  He hasn't woken up crying like that for a few long time (well, except for last month when he woke up feverish and in pain with the first ear infection).  I went in, rocked him for a few minutes, and since he was falling asleep in my arms, I put him back to bed.  Five minutes later, crying again.  So this time, Brandon went in and did the same thing I did.  Maybe five or ten minutes after that, Miles started crying again, but quickly went back to sleep on his own.  Anyway, that little bit of business has long been gone from our nights, so it was unusual.

At this appointment, Miles weighed more than a full pound more than he did 2 weeks ago.  This time he had his clothes and shoes on, but still -- that's not a full pound.  So I was happy about that.  He weighed 24.6 lbs. yesterday.

The doctor checked his ears and quickly saw that the left was still infected and now the right one was as well.  AGH!  She asked about his molars coming through, and I knew they were on their way, but hadn't seen evidence that one had indeed popped out.  It's not nearly as easy to look in his mouth as it used to be!  Anyway, she saw that one of the top left molars had come through.  She said the extra fluid behind the ears can lead to bacteria growth, causing ear infections.

She prescribed Augmentin, and sent us on our merry way with an appointment in two weeks to check the ears yet again and to get those darned shots when he is 16 months old.  I have to admit, I'm dreading the shots.  He definitely reacts to the shots more now that he is older, and I haaaaaaate it.  I hate seeing the look of terror and pain across his face.  He calms down quickly and takes a good long nap afterward, but I still dread it.

Not much going on with the pregnancy.  I have an appointment on Monday for my 24 week checkup, plus another ultrasound.  Spencer wasn't in an optimal position to check his head and heart last time, so just checking those things.  And I'll probably ask them to make sure he's still a boy :-)

I'm feeling a bit "off" this week, just kinda sickly.  Yesterday I was exhausted and could hardly stand up long enough to wash dishes.  This morning, I almost fell over twice because I was so dizzy and then I nearly puked up my waffle.  I probably just need some extra naps, which I am happy to take.

I was afraid this was going to be a "it's twins!" announcement. Not that I'm happy Miles has a double ear infection, but I guess you could say I'm happy to hear it's just one little baby growing away in there. :)

I wouldn't mind twins! It would be a lot of work, but lots of fun!
