The Big Ultrasound!

I don't remember being so excited about our ultrasound with Miles, even though I know I was!  I was just so ready to find out more about the new addition to our family that I could hardly get to sleep last night!

So we got all loaded up in the car and got to the doctor's office way early, especially considering how late they seemed to be!  My appointment was at 1:00pm, we got there at 12:35pm, and didn't go back to the ultrasound room until 1:30pm!  Miles, who hadn't taken a nap yet, was in NO MOOD to be sitting on anyone's lap in a boring waiting room, so by the time we were called back, we were all totally frustrated.

She quickly found the baby (after pointing out my VERY full bladder) and measured its head, showed us its kidneys and bladder, and then the big news, which we were prepared for, with a shirt for Miles.  I'll let him share the news:

Yep!  Miles is getting a little brother!  Since we had a very easy time deciding on a name, we have no good reason to wait to share the name.  Miles's brother will be named Spencer!  Spencer Ray (Rae is my middle name and Ray is my dad's, my grandfather's, and Brandon's grandfather's middle name).

Unfortunately, because of the baby's position (back to the world), the sonographer wasn't able to get a good look at his face or his heart structure.  So when I go back for my next appointment in 4 weeks, they will do another ultrasound.  Apparently the placenta is in the front, which is surprising to me, because we've already felt kicks from the outside.

We're all very excited!  This was really cute -- when the announcement was made in the ultrasound room, Miles started clapping!  Of course he has no idea why he was excited, he just knew it was an exciting moment!  I've never seen him clap so hard!

After the ultrasound, I got to empty my bladder, and Brandon took Miles into the hallway outside the doctor's office, changed him into his shirt, and took his picture.  He said Miles seemed to think it was pretty funny to be shirtless in the hallway.

How am I feeling about the news?  I'm very excited, I think it will be really cute to have two young little boys.  But of course, I worry that I will NEVER have a daughter.  I want a daughter so badly.  And I think Brandon and I disagree on how many times we will try before giving up on that dream.  The good news is that we don't really need anything new for this baby!  Hopefully Spencer won't mind the hand-me-downs!
