I'm hearing disco music in my head.
I took both boys (22 months and 3 months) on a 5 hour drive to my parents' house in Tennessee ALL BY MYSELF and lived to tell about it! Go me!
It really wasn't that bad and I keep thinking to myself "Wow, so this is getting really easy! Why did I think it was difficult with one?!" And when I think that, I also think to myself "I hope no one listening to my thoughts is getting the impression that I think they're a wimp when they talk about the difficulty of hauling around one child" because believe me, I know it's a challenge! It just gets easier with time.
The drive back was pretty ridiculous. We had to be packed and ready to leave from church, which meant that I got up 4 hours before we left in order to get everything done. We were ready way in advance and even though Mom skipped Sunday School so she could help me, with the extra time we had I probably could have packed by myself (but Mom I appreciate you!!). We went to iHop for lunch, which in retrospect was a bad decision, seeing how late it made us. We didn't leave Johnson City until 2:00pm. Why were we in such a rush? Oh, because I committed to be a Family Leader for VBS which started last night at 6:30pm, of course! *facepalm*
I stopped once for gas and a milkshake, then an hour and a half later stopped to go to the bathroom (lugging Spencer in his carseat and walking hand-in-hand with Miles into Shoney's). Rather than nursing Spencer, I had pumped (while driving...I'm sure there will be a law against this soon) and gave him a bottle quickly. I pumped again later so that the ladies in the nursery could feed him during VBS.
We ended up rolling into the parking lot at 6:37pm, with just enough time for me to drop off the boys, run downstairs and get an Ancient Egyptian costume on, and meet my Family for the last song of the Opening Celebration time. Whew. I felt like I should have been wearing a superhero cape with an M on it. (That's right, I just called myself a Superhero. I have to give myself a pat on the back sometimes.)
This week starts our summer craziness. It'll be a lot of running here and there, but I'm looking forward to the excitement.
