3 and 22 months!

This week, Miles hit 22 months and Spencer hit 3 months!  It's kinda nice having them hit their monthly milestones in the same week all the time!

I'll talk a little about Miles first.  His vocabulary is EXPLODING!  I can't keep up with all of his words, but I'm going to try to make a list before his two year well child appointment.  He knows all his body parts, knows most clothing items, and can recognize 5-10 letters consistently.  He is starting to repeat everything you say (watch out!) and has a great little sense of humor.  He's getting much better at using a fork and spoon and has graduated to using a plate instead of the booster seat tray, which is a good thing since his big ole belly was squishing into it all the time.  He's becoming much more social at church and is starting to learn the names of the kids in the nursery.  Such a little lovebug, that one.  He's going to have so much fun at Summer In The Son this year!  Last year he was taking 1-3 steps while we were there and then literally the day we went home, he figured out how to stand up without holding anything and was full on walking!  I'm looking forward to letting him play on the KCU campus.

As for Spencer, he isn't doing a terrible lot of new things, but he is awake a lot more.  He's such an easy baby!  (Famous last words?)  Still sleeping fabulously at night, has figured out to find his thumb when he needs it, is eating great, smiling and chuckling (I wouldn't call it laughing yet), and getting huge!  I saw 14 lbs. on the scale today for the first time!  I'm not sure how long he will be staying in his 3-6 month clothes.  He's such a sweet little babe.

I'm reflecting a little bit today on Miles's first months.  It was right around this age for him (3 months and a few days) when we discovered he had gained only 3 ounces in one month and he was admitted to the hospital, diagnosed as Failure To Thrive.  My heart breaks when I see pictures of him at this age.  He looks so frail.  I am still angry at myself for not seeing it.  It's chilling to think that I thought I was doing everything right but my child was still starving.  Well.  He is perfect now, and that is my consolation.

I can't believe that the month of June will be here in just a few days!  Next week the boys and I go to Tennessee for a visit, then VBS, then Brandon goes to KCU to set up for SITS, then we will join him and be going back and forth for a few weeks.  After SITS, we go to the beach for a week, then it's back to normal life!  Not that our life is ever "normal."
