I figured I should try to get in another post or so before Spencer comes.
So I'll share a funny story of what happened on Wednesday, the day I turned 39 weeks. I know there's only a small handful of people who read this, so consider yourself privileged that I am sharing this.
There is loads of information that could be considered "Too Much" in here, so I'm warning you now.
I dropped Miles off at his babysitter's house so I could go lead a WW meeting in Versailles. I got there and started setting up for our meeting (which involves, moving around some boxes, getting my scale and supplies set up, setting out products on display, getting my flip charts ready and meeting supplies prepared). A few minutes before 11:30am when we start weighing members, I went to the restroom and I thought something felt a little strange...a little damper than normal...
So I began weighing members and when we hit a lull at 11:45am, I felt like I needed to go to the bathroom yet again. On this trip, I would start to leave the stall then think "Hmmm...I think I need to wipe again!" Three or so times this happened! I'm starting to panic, thinking "Oh my gosh, is my water breaking/leaking?!?!"
I walked out and waited for the receptionist to finish with someone. I leaned over and said "I don't mean to alarm you, but I'm slightly concerned that my water may be leaking." She said "Oh my GOSH Krista, you are NOT going to have this baby right here! SIT DOWN!" I assured that it was most likely nothing, but I wanted her to be prepared in case I ran out of the meeting room or if she heard a big splash (haha!). I wanted her to have something in mind that she could talk to the members about.
I did end up sitting down on a stool during most of the meeting but never felt much more dampness during that time. After the meeting when we were putting things away, I felt a lot more "trickling." I had put two towels in the car that meeting, just in case my water should break in the car! I continued to feel it as I drove home and picked up Miles.
By the time we got home, I wasn't feeling much, but I was soaked. (You can barf and/or shudder now.) I put Miles down for his afternoon nap, ate my lunch, had a consult with Dr. Google, who said it could be a high leak, which can reseal itself. He recommended that I lie down for a bit and then get up and see if there was a gush. What I read said that the baby's head can be blocking the flow, so if you lie down, it can kinda "un-cork" so to speak. Well, I laid down and fell asleep...and woke up 2 hours later, totally dry.
I figure now that it was either indeed a leak that re-sealed, or just a crazy amount of discharge. My midwife told me some funny stories about discharge in the late days at my appointment yesterday.
My appointment was pretty uneventful. She said I'm measuring a little smaller now, which could mean that he is descending, which is a good thing! Or it could just mean that her measurement is off :-) She is on call all weekend (lucky her, working Labor & Delivery on a Full Moon weekend!), so that makes me relieved! She said she fully expects that we will have a baby within the week, but of course she would say that to someone who is 39 weeks pregnant! We shall see.
