Let me back up...
Last week was an exciting week for our little family! On Wednesday the 24th, I turned 26, Miles turned 11 months old, and I found out by a home pregnancy test that we are expecting our second child in March of next year! Brandon was at KCU for the summer programming that he directs and Miles and I were home alone so that I could lead Ladies' Bible Study and my two Weight Watchers meetings. We had planned for Miles and I to drive to Grayson to have dinner with Brandon so that I wouldn't be sad and lonely on my birthday.
We had received several cards in the mail in the past few days -- Father's Day cards for Brandon, birthday cards for me, anniversary cards for both of us -- so I brought them to dinner along with a special present for Brandon! He opened up his cards and then I said "Oh! And then there's this!" And handed him:

Obviously he was quite surprised and ridiculously happy. The next day I took another HPT because I honestly wasn't convinced from the first two on the 24th. Here's why I love digital HPTs...
No question, no lines to analyze. Black and white.
Brandon came home several days later and we called our parents to make the announcement. With our first pregnancy, we waited until we could tell them in person, but we decided we would rather have their prayers for the baby's health than relish in a good surprise reaction. They were still plenty surprised.
I finally have a doctor's appointment scheduled for July 27th, the same day as Miles's 12 month well child appointment. If all goes well, we will make our announcement that evening.
I'm 5 weeks pregnant today and I feel perfectly fine, just a little tired. My appetite is a little weird and I am supplementing a little formula with Miles because I just worry that my milk supply is taking a major hit.
I'm hoping that my pregnancy journal from freepregnancyorganizer.com comes in the mail today! We are driving up to Cincinnati this evening to pick up Carter (my 13 year old brother in law) and he's going to spend a week with us. Our summer schedule is about to get even crazier, but that just assures me that it'll be over soon!
Have I had a few moments of "Oh my goodness, what have we done?!" Yes. I won't lie. I have had a few tinges of guilt about Miles and how this is going to change his life. But I know that he will be a happier kid with a little brother or sister so close in age. And especially right now, as we're having some financial woes, I worry about money. But that's why you have 9-10 months until the baby comes out, right?
